Best Women’s Clothing Store: Calypso Bay

Sep 16, 2015 | 5:31 PM

Whether it’s business casual, that perfect outfit for a special occasion coming up or a new pair of jeans and a fun top, the staff at Calypso Bay can help you find it.

Calypso Bay is an independent retail corporation located in downtown Prince Albert. The staff at Calypso Bay have been assisting customers to find their perfect fit since 2007.

“When someone walks into our store we want to help them find clothes that work for their body type, clothes that they will feel good in when they leave,” said Shannyn Davis, owner of Calypso Bay Clothing.

“We will listen to what your specific needs are, and assess your body type

and because we know how our different clothing lines fit, we can make suggestions based on those factors.”

Shoppers agree that Calypso Bay is the best place to shop for women’s clothing in Prince Albert. They offer a wide selection of popular brands and styles and the staff at Calypso Bay always make their shoppers feel at home. Happy customers are their greatest form of advertising and they take pride in the opportunity to make sure every shopper enjoys their shopping experience at Calypso Bay so they will return and bring their friends.

“I have met the most amazing people through store.  The support of our repeat customers has been amazing, and the feedback has been very positive,”said Davis.

“I know people have a lot of choices when it comes to shopping, including online, but I think there’s still something to be said for the personalized, hands-on boutique shopping experience.  Every year has seen steady growth.”

At Calypso Bay they make the effort to bring in brands and styles that are unique to Prince Albert.  Some popular brands include Soyaconcept, Yoga Jeans, Garcia and Joseph Ribkoff.

“Our flag ship brand would be Joseph Ribkoff; it’s #1 for us.  It’s an amazing line that is designed, sewn and produced in Canada and has been around for over 50 years. The pieces are timeless and classic, and the quality speaks for itself.  They are some of your best foundation pieces to invest in.” “And the dresses are fantastic!”

“Career women really appreciate brands like Soyaconcept, Dex, and Lisette L (an amazing Canadian pant line that’s been worn by Oprah on the cover of 3 “O Magazines”!) These pieces all work really well with your basics and are also well-priced.,” she added.

That being said, things are always evolving at the shop.

“If a particular line has stopped working for us, we evaluate why,” said Davis.  “We look at who is coming in the door, and listen to what they are asking us for and adjust our buying accordingly. We’re always on the lookout for Canadian brands as well, as the quality is usually reflected in this.”

At Calypso Bay they promise not to disappoint when it comes to selection and they encourage local shoppers to come in and check them out before heading out of the city to do their shopping.

“We are easy to get to, small, and offer a lot of the same lines you’ll find in the Saskatoon shops.” said Davis.

“We’ve had customers that will go into the city to look for a dress, for example, and come back exhausted, frustrated and empty handed and end up finding 2 or 3 here that they really like!”
