Saskatchewan Roughriders drop preseason finale to B.C. Lions

Jun 23, 2011 | 6:54 AM

The Saskatchewan Roughriders lost their final preseason game to the B.C. Lions 34-6.

The Roughriders struggled to gain their footing on offense as many passes were dropped by receivers, including veterans like Chris Getzlaf. Quarterback Darian Durant played well into the third quarter and threw one touchdown pass, albeit to the opponent when Korey Banks stepped in front of his pass in the second quarter and took it the distance.

The Roughriders did have some bright spots and Terrence Nunn led all receivers with seven receptions, rookie non-import Graig Newman had six tackles, including one sack, and defensive end Montez Murphy was one of the lone highlights on the defensive line with a sack and four tackles.

The team did outgain the B.C. Lions on the offensive side of the football but the kicking game failed to make field goals as Eddie Johnson was 1/2 and rookie Christopher Milo missed both his attempts in the second half.
