Tux and Toques Gala offers fun, fine dining and a free toque

Jan 23, 2019 | 1:56 PM

It’s cold outside and organizers with the annual Prince Albert Winter Festival are hoping a good crowd will turn up Saturday evening to have a bit of fun, enjoy a great meal, and warm up with a new toque.

The third-annual Tux and Toques Gala gets underway Saturday at the Prince Albert Wildlife Federation, just north of the city. Attendees will be treated to a meal with prime rib and salmon on the menu, and entertainment by the band The Whiskey Jerks.

Tickets are available until the end of the day Thursday. Attendees will also get a free toque.

The gala is one of the kick-off events to the annual winter festival in February. This year’s gala will feature John Kushneryk, the festival’s honorary chair, with proceeds going to support the JumpStart for Kids program.

“We’re just going to have a good time,” Barry Mihilewicz, president of the Prince Albert Winter Festival Society said. “It’s a great event, everybody who comes is really excited about it.”

Bev Erickson, chair of the gala’s organizing committee, said 140 tickets have already been sold for the evening event.

“It’s a good time, and it’s a great kickoff to the Prince Albert WInter Festival 2019,” Erickson said. “There’s a lot more fun to be had by everyone.”

The gala will also feature a silent auction and 50/50 raffle. The annual Prince Albert Winter Festival runs from Feb. 10 to 24.
