Officers serve notice to Occupy Regina protesters

Nov 10, 2011 | 10:42 AM

Occupy Regina protesters sleeping in tents in Victoria Park were woken up Thursday morning to officers serving them a notice of bylaw contravention and trespassing.

The notice was left for about a dozen people at the camp at around 8 a.m.

The City of Regina notice of bylaw contravention and trespass states they must be gone by 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Protester Adam Thorntown says they've been ready for this.

“We’re hitting an interesting point. Part of the trick to ensuring the continued protection of the charter is to make sure arrests that do happen tomorrow are peaceful,” said Thorntown.

“We do have legal counsel. We are not afraid to get arrested.”

The protestors have written the number of their legal counsel on their arms. They say they are ready to be arrested.

But before then, they're heading to Regina city council.

Glen Davies, city manager, will provide an update on the City of Regina's response to the Occupy Regina protest at 10:45 a.m. in the lobby of city hall.
